Finnish Championship Game - the Maple Bowl - a great match-up and broadcast live online!
When the Porvoon Butchers and Seinajoki Crocodiles face each other in Maple Bowl XXXI this Saturday September 4 it will be the third time since 2005 they have met in the final. In 2005 Porvoon won 17-7 and in 2007 they did it again by a score of 15-14.
This is the sixth straight trip to the championship game by Porvoon and they won the previous five.
This year in Finland the Crocodiles had the best defense against the run but the Butchers were right behind in second spot. Porvoon had the second best rushing offense in 2010 and the Crocodiles were third. In passing the Butchers were second but they also had the best defense against the pass.
Crocodile tailback Greg Fountain led the league in rushing averaging 156 yards per game while scoring a total of 19 touchdowns. The Butchers quarterback Robert Johnson was second in the league in passing throwing for 220 yards a game and a total of 22 TDs (15 ints). Alex Rouse of the Crocodiles was not far behind in 4th with 1,870 yards passing and 26 TDs (4 ints).
Game time is 4:15 PM Finnish time (GMT+3). On the east coast of North America it starts at 9:15 AM and the west coast 6:15 AM.
The broadcast is always great with several cameras and the game promises to be terrific.
