The Berlin Rebels (German top division) have signed quarterback Brian Amaral for the 2012 season.

Brian Amaral (6’, 212 lb) has signed with the top division German team the Berlin Rebels after this veteran of European American football played for six different teams over the past four seasons.

In 2011 Amaral played at quarterback for the Magdeburg Virgin Guards (German second division). He spent the 2010 season playing for three teams at quarterback – the Lazio Marines (Italian top division), Tampere Saints(Finnish Maple League) and the Copenhagen Towers(Danish top division). Overall, he threw for 2,501 yards and 22 touchdowns and rushed for 947 yards and nine touchdowns.

For the 2009 season Brian started at quarterback for the Hvidovre Stars of the Danish top division performing the same role for the Saarland Hurricanes (German top division) in 2008.

In his four seasons in Europe, he has thrown for 7,408 yards and 75 touchdowns and rushed for another 2,725 yards and 22 touchdowns.

Prior to coming to Europe, Amaral, a native of Rhode Island, played semi-pro football in the United States for a number of different teams at both quarterback and linebacker. He played NCAA Div III football for Springfield College in Massachusetts.

In 1999, Sports Illustrated named him one of the Top 50 greatest sports figures in Rhode Island history.
