SHEFFIELD to host BRITBOWL XXVI.

Britain's leading American football teams will battle for championship glory at Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium on the Bank Holiday Weekend of August 25-26.

BritBowl XXVI (26) – the championship weekend of the British American Football Association National Leagues – will see a host of finals take place over the course of two hard-hitting, action-packed days.

The action begins at 2pm on Saturday August 25 with the Division 2 Final, followed by the Division 1 Final at 6:30pm. Sunday August 26 kicks off at 2pm with the Junior Kitted Final before the elite Premier Division Final brings the curtain down on the weekend's action at 7pm. Among the leading contenders to appear in the Premier Division Final are the defending champion London Blitz and last year's beaten finalists, the London Warriors, who feature TV presenter and huge NFL fan VERNON KAY among their playing squad.

Event organiser DREW ANDERSON says: "BritBowl XXVI is the highlight of the British American football calendar and I am confident this event will serve as a wonderful advert for this fast-growing and exciting sport.

"We have a proud history of playing our championships at Don Valley Stadium and feel this venue offers a first-class experience to our competing teams and the thousands of fans who attend our finals weekend. We are confident of putting on a good show for the people of Sheffield and American football supporters from across the United Kingdom."

In addition to the senior events being held inside Don Valley Stadium, a host of other American football tournaments will take place outside the venue over the weekend, including adult and youth flag football competitions.

BritBowl XXVI will also feature live music performances, as well as a host of entertainment and attractions for all the family.

PAT SMITH, General Manager of Don Valley Stadium, which is operated by Sheffield International Venues (SIV), said: "Having hosted the finals since 2001, Don Valley Stadium has become the home of British American football. To compete in the finals at Don Valley is the highlight of the year for the National League teams and we're looking forward to another spectacular weekend of action."
