Harris leads the way with 6 TD passes in Wroclaw's 55-3 rout of Silesia
The Wroclaw Devils completed the season sweep of the AZS Silesia Rebels on Sunday afternoon in Chorzów, getting six touchdown passes from Sedrick Harris en route to a 55-3 win. Grzegorz Mazur bookended the rout, scoring in the first quarter on a 68-yard touchdown reception and then again in the fourth quarter on a 15-yarder.
The Devils, who beat Silesia 41-6 earlier in the month, led 42-3 at halftime. Xavier Glenn scored on the ground and through the air as well, and Dawid Tarczynski, Karol Pelechaty and Piotr Wis all scored first half touchdowns for Wroclaw. Austin Smith added a 34-yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter.
The Rebels' only points came in impressive fashion, at least by PLFA standards. Trailing 29-0, Silesia reached the Wroclaw 30-yard line in the middle of the second quarter. They were stopped there, at which point Zbigniew Szrejber boomed a 47-yard field goal through the uprights. His kick was just a few yards short of the PLFA record.
Silesia finished the year with a record of 2-8, good enough for a tie for third place in the Topliga South Division. They ended the year with the same record as their regional rivals, the Zaglebie Steelers Interpromex, although the Rebels technically finished higher thanks to a tiebreaker advantage. The Devils, meanwhile, lead the division with a record of 8-1, having won 6 consecutive ballgames.
The Devils still have one game left in the regular season, against the Eagles in Warsaw on June 22. If the Devils win that game, a makeup of a game that was postponed earlier in the year, they will claim the division crown outright and earn the right to host those same Eagles in the semifinals a week later. If the Eagles win, on the other hand, the Devils' playoff fate will rest in the result of the Giants-Kozly game the next day.
