Murcia Cobras Loading Up For First Season In Spain's Top League!

With the Spanish season set to kick off this weekend, the Murcia Cobras are obviously looking to make an impact in their very first season in Spain's elite league. The club has announced the signing of four imports to the roster, three of them massive linemen.

The most recent signing is Gus Johnson, a 6'3", 290 lb offensive lineman from Humboldt State (NCAA Div. II). The Reno, Nevada native had a four year career with the Lumberjacks and started all 11 games in 2016. Johnson joins 6'6", 290 lb Swedish lineman Maximilian Malander who played for one of Sweden’s top teams in 2016, the Tyreso Royal Crowns and is a member of the Swedish national team.

Murcia had earlier announced the signing of another lineman, Jonathan Rijo, 6'2", 320 lb from Lincoln University (NCAA Div. II) along with Easter Michigan (NCAA Div. I) defensive back Oliver Kathalay.

Cobras head coach Santiago Torres is definitely going to protect his quarterback. All three lineman will no doubt play defense while Kathalay will see time as a returner and ball carrier.

Murcia advanced to Spain's elite league after an undefeated season in Div. 2 in Spain.
